KEY SOCIAL ISSUES

Social issues important to horticultural supply chains, governing the relationship between employer and employee, are normally managed by codes of practice and include:

1. Right to the legal minimum or a liveable wage;
2. Restriction of child labour;
3. Prohibition of forced and bonded labour;
4. Rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining;
5. Health and safety in the workplace;
6. Equal remuneration for male and female workers;
7. Freedom from discrimination.
