NRET has been involved in the banana industry since 1997 when it reported on fair-trade bananas in Ghana and advised the British government on the potential for organic and fair-trade bananas from the Windward Islands.

We are now at the early stages of working with a wide range of conventional, fair-trade and organic producers, exporters, importers and retailers to explore the need for support on marketing, production and institution building for the Caribbean exotic fruit industry. Given the range of activities relating to bananas and other exotic produce, it is felt that before agreeing to any project, NRET is putting together an inception report that will:
