Cut flowers are a major export crop from African and Latin American countries. NRET works with flower producers and industry associations in Kenya and Uganda to improve social and environmental standards, and make these standards applicable to all sizes of producer.

In 1998, NRET carried out a planning mission for assisting the Kenya Flower Council, and assisted in the development of a code of practice for Ugaflor in Uganda.

We are currently preparing an economic analysis of the costs and benefits of social standards in the flower industry.
