NRET was one of nine consortium members who founded
this resource centre to promote the further understanding and adoption
of best practice by Northern and Southern companies in the field of
business social responsibility.
Our work for the sdbp.rc to date has included:
- Managing the development of a conceptual framework
for understanding the drivers, constraints and decision pathways of
business in adopting socially responsible practices.
- Conducting a comprehensive survey of European
and North American business capacity and needs in relation to social
responsibility. This included reviewing the current state of knowledge
in mining, oil, gas, utilities, manufacturing, tourism and agriculture.
- Co-managing a review of human capacity to meet
the needs of business in social responsibility as the basis for designing
a professional development programme.
- Helping with the development of information
systems for companies wanting to adopt social responsibility practices.
We are now leading a project to look at the relations
between the various stakeholders involved in ethical supply chain management.
