The First International Conference on Pesticidal Plants

The International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology successfully hosted the 1st International Pesticidal Plant conference, with main support provided the Egerton University. On behalf of the ADAPPT network, we are most grateful to all the members of the National Organising Committee in Kenya, which made the conference such a success.

The conference proceedings are available here. Ogendo, J.O., Lukhoba, C.W., Bett, P.K. and Machocho, A.K. (Eds.) (2013) Proceedings of The First International Conference on Pesticidal Plants. Egerton University, Kenya. 275 pp. (full text pdf)

Over 140 delegates attended the conference, hailing from 25 countries. Feedback from delegates was very supportive of holding a 2nd ICPP in 4 years time. More information about this will be posted here as the details are worked out.

The conference would not have been such a success without the support from a great many donors. Details of all the donors are provided in the abstract book. We would particularly like to thank the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and the The World Academy of Sciences Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa (TWAS-ROSSA) who supported a number of delegates at the ICPP. The AAS is an Africa-wide non-profit organization whose vision is to be the engine driving scientific and technological development in Africa (www.aasciences.org). TWAS-ROSSA aims at coordinating efforts to promote the activities of TWAS and its affiliated organisations in Africa. The TWAS mission is to promote scientific excellence for sustainable development in the South.
