TRAINING CONSIDERATIONS

Training should be conducted to impart specific skills, which have been identified as needed and valid.

  • Carry out training in an environment that is familiar to farmers so that they can see the relevance of the training to their own farms, e.g. on-farm demonstrations
  • Restrict the duration of training sessions so that key farm decision-makers - both men and women - can attend
  • Link technical training to financial training on cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and business management, so that innovations taught are financially as well as technically viable.
