General
Perennial prostrate trailing herb. Annual stems grow from a woody rootstock. Leaves and stems with rough hairs. Leaves strongly 3-5 lobed. Flowers unisexual, both sexes on the same plant, solitary, yellow. Fruits oval or ellipsoid, covered in soft spines, green, withor without darker stripes, turning pale yellow when ripe. Found in open woodland and grassland or as a weed of cultivation.
