TIMING OF HARVESTING

  • There must be an absolute guarantee that the minimum required period since the last application of agrochemical has elapsed before harvesting is permitted.
  • The buyer should give growers precise instructions on the size, grade and stage of development of the crop which will attract the highest price.
  • With only small areas to harvest, smallholders can go through their fields many times picking only those beans (for example) which are at exactly the right stage of development; in this way they can greatly improve the quality and value of their production.
